The Finalists of the Tributech Smart Product Challenge
We are happy to present the finalists of our first Smart Product Challenge! Together with our partners, we invited startups to submit their innovative IoT solutions that leverage sensor, hardware, connectivity, and platform technologies to develop secure, smart, and connected products. The quality of submissions were outstanding, but the following 10 startups fascinated us with the technological and business opportunities the most.
Developing the hardware and software stack for new and innovative IoT applications is the biggest challenge in bringing new ideas to the market, especially for startups with their limited resources. In cooperation with Infineon Technologies, Nordic Semiconductor, Magenta Telekom and Microsoft for Startups we wanted to put the spotlight on innovative startups and help them accelerate the product development and go-to-market.
The following 10 finalists demonstrated their forward-thinking vision on how to leverage new technologies to make life and business smarter:
Alveri – Smart charging robot for electric vehicles
The CHARbO from Alveri aims to revolutionize the way electric vehicles are charged. Instead of one car being charged at one station, the charging robot can drive from car to car and charge until the battery is fully loaded. Afterwards the robot moves to the next car in line.
Bartstua – Smart energy saving sauna oven
Via an App customers can book an appointment at a Sauna, which preheats before the customer arrives. Thereby Bartstua develops a smart sauna oven that automatically starts to heat before the appointment and stops to heat after the appointment. Thereby, the solution helps to save energy and reduce CO² emissions.
Carployee – Mobility tracker with reward system
Carployee wants to develop a mobility tracker for the users of mobility solutions (e.g. Car, Bike, Train, …) with the goal to build a comprehensive mobility data pool. In this system the users of the tracker will be incentivized using a reward token system for recording and sharing their mobility data.
JUHUU BikeBox – Secure and smart box for storing bikes
The BikeBox offers a secure storing solution for bikes, with the possibility to even charge E-Bikes. Via an app customers can book a slot and store their bike. After removing the bike again the payment will take place automatically via the app providing a convenient customer experience.
Medpack – Smart medication dispenser
Medpack tackles the problem of patients forgetting to take their medication with their smart medication dispenser. The dispenser consists of 4-8 departments. Each department has a light that starts to shine whenever the medication needs to be taken. The dispenser can be controlled via an App.
Norrsidans Innovation – Smart level monitoring sensors
Monitoring the level of materials is applicable for a broad range of industries and applications (e.g. waste, sand, liquids). In this context, Norrsidans offers smart sensing solutions that allow their customers to have the level measurements visualized in the cloud.
Ottobahn – Revolutionary mobility concept
The Ottobahn has developed a brand new mobility concept for cities. An autonomous driving cabin is mounted on overhead rails and passengers can book this cabin. The cabin comes to the customer and takes him/her to the desired location. It works like a taxi, but without traffic jams and climate neutral.
Sendance – Smart insole for diabetic foot
Sendance develops an insole for diabetes patients. The insole contains special sensors that monitor relevant health parameters. By consistently monitoring a patient’s health parameters Sendance aims to prevent the development of ulcers at feet.
Sunnybag – A backpack that creates solar energy and incentivizes users
The Sunnybag is a backpack equipped with solar panels that customers can use to create energy and charge their electric devices. Additionally, Sunnybag has developed a token system that incentivizes and rewards their customers when using the backpack.
Testify – Hybrid energy tracking
Using the hybrid energy tracking, Testify aims to help manufacturing companies to calculate their carbon footprint. The uniqueness lies in the approach of combining human generated data with IoT data to be more time and cost efficient.
What’s next?
On the 7th of April 2022 the expert jury consisting of Stefanie Grois (IoT Solution Architect EMEA at Microsoft), Michal Lagan (Head of IoT Sales at Magenta), Thomas Page (Regional Sales Director at Nordic Semiconductor), Dr. Josef Haid (Head of Security System Architectures at Infineon, Daniel Cronin (Pitch Professor at Austrian Startups) and Patrick Lamplmair (CTO & Co-Founder at Tributech) will select the winners of this year's Smart Product Challenge and crown the next #SmartProductHeroes at the Microsoft Headquarter in Munich.
