What e-mobility is actually able to achieve in terms of range is not an easy question. Procedures such as the NEFZ and WLTP have in many cases proved to be impractical, which leads to general uncertainty and, in particular, to the so-called “range anxiety” of e-vehicles.
Proof of Reach is intended to create Austria’s first alternative source of information for the range of e-vehicles with practical trip data. This is intended to create greater transparency between manufacturers, eliminate the “range anxiety” and support the establishment of e-mobility.
The proof of the actual range of an e-vehicle is formed by collected data about actually traveled distances of different electric cars under different environmental conditions. Some test drivers will be equipped with a telematic module (data logger) for collecting this data during a specific time periode.
Proof of Reach – in tracking data we trust
The project was launched at the beginning of 2019. It’s objective is to collect data from test drivers of diverse electric cars throughout a specific interval and to analyse this data. The procedure of collecting trip data is intended to create greater transparency between manufacturers, eliminate the range anxiety and encourage the establishment of e-mobility. The project is divided into three phases, in which 30 test drivers will produce the needed data. Proof of Reach is supported by the Climate and Energy Fund.
